Earthwise Garden Design offer a flexible mix of consultancy, design and garden implementation services. These range from a single border, small gardens and courtyards to large country estates, both private and corporate.

Contact us by phone or email with a few details and we’ll arrange an initial meeting to discuss your garden ideas and aspirations.

If your project is design and build, the typical steps are set out below:

Design

Initial visit and report

We'll discuss your garden ideas and aspirations together. This will be followed up by a written report to confirm the brief and a quotation for design will be offered.

Site survey and analysis

After acceptance of our design quotation a second visit will be arranged to further clarify the brief, photograph and analyse the site and conduct a site survey. We survey small to mid-size gardens, for more complex gardens we will recommend and organise a topographical survey by an independent professional surveyor.

Garden Plan

The first stage of the design process is to produce a concept or outline plan which will show all the proposed features of the design. This is discussed during a third visit and any necessary amendments made. Once all details have been agreed often via video walk through, we'll issue a final plan. At this stage costs for implementation can be discussed.

Build

Marking out

The outline plan will be marked out prior to construction and this is often a valuable process to help the client visualise the new garden layout in situ.

Ground work and hard landscaping

Larger sites and significant changes of level will usually involve machinery and muck away in skips or lorries. All hard landscaping features are constructed. Borders and any planting areas are prepared.

Planting plan / soft landscaping

On completion of the hard landscaping, a detailed and specified planting plan will be drawn up following a discussion to confirm any client preferences in terms of plant species, colour and planting style. The plan will indicate the location and details of all trees, shrubs and perennials.

Plant sourcing, setting out and planting

A quotation for planting will be prepared after which the plants will be sourced, delivered, laid out and planted in accordance with the agreed plan.

Maintenance Schedule

A garden maintenance schedule can be prepared on request
